David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan cast as Superman and Lois Lane in James Gunn movie
David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan are James Gunn's new Superman and Lois Lane.
The casting was announced via Twitter on Tuesday, and a Warner Bros. spokesman and the co-chair of DC Studios, who is also writing and directing "Superman: Legacy" for July 2025, verified it.
After Henry Cavill spent a decade portraying Superman on the big screen, there has been much discussion about who might step into his footsteps. According to reports, Corenswet beat out actors like Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney for the part. The 29-year-old Philadelphia native played an aspiring actor in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series "The Politician" and "Hollywood," and more recently, he or she played a theatre owner who crosses paths with Mia Goth's aspiring actress in Ti West's "Pearl."
